The Tbilisi City Court fully granted the motion of the Prosecutor's Office against the leader of the Coalition for Change, Zurab Girchi Japaridze, in the so-called sabotage case and granted him bail in the amount of 30,000 GEL as a restrictive measure.
Zurab Girchi Japaridze was also ordered to additionally surrender his passport and ID card to the investigative agency.
The decision was made by Judge Teona Epitashvili.
Zurab Girchi Japaridze was given 30 days to pay bail.
The Prosecutor's Office requested the use of bail in the amount of 30,000 GEL as a restrictive measure. It also requested the confiscation of his ID card and passport as an additional measure.
According to the prosecutor, the threat and risk of committing a new crime is real, because Zurab Girchi Japaridze is not a law-abiding citizen.
According to him, there is also a risk of absconding, because based on the circumstances of the case, he has contacts and connections outside the country.
In addition, the defense filed a motion for the court not to use any restrictive measures.
According to the lawyer, there is no threat of committing a new crime or absconding. In addition, by confiscating Zura Japaridze's passport, he will be deprived of the right to travel and engage in political activity.
