Suddenly, they discovered that during this "unprecedented economic boom" of recent years, could not notice unprecedented increase in prices - Kobakhidze has appeared with new false promises (price controls) and real threats, now against big and small businesses! - the fifth President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, writes on social networks, thus responding to the Prime Minister's initiative regarding price regulation.
As she states, Irakli Kobakhidze is “distracting the attention of angry and shocked ordinary citizens.”
“The regime cannot convince the people or its own supporters that Liluashvili was not theirs, but of the opposition and even its financier! That is why it became necessary to distract the attention of angry and shocked ordinary citizens, and what can be more interesting during this New Year period than the increased prices of products! That is why Kobakhidze appeared to us with new false promises (price controls) and real threats, now against big and small businesses! Suddenly, they discovered that during this “time of unprecedented economic growth” in recent years, they could not notice unprecedented price increases! At the same time, they discovered that this is not the fault of the country's economic decline, nor of the fact that for 13 years the country has had neither a vision nor a policy oriented towards its own national interests and the well-being of the population, nor of the fact that all import and export monopoly companies, such as supermarket chains, were and are in the hands of all the Georgian Dream or those who have made deals with it! They are not responsible for anything! Neither for the extreme corruption of their own team, nor for their incompetence, nor for their support of corrupt foreign investors who are tied to them and who are pursuing foreign interests. No, it turns out that all of this was your and my fault. And Kobakhidze will send the State Security Service to those who "do not bring the money back" on time and a series of new arrests will begin! At this time, let's not forget: "The country's economy is flourishing." I don't know of any country (except Russia) where the issue of price control and market control is directly assigned to the State Security Service. I haven't even heard of a prime minister deciding the agenda of parliament and announcing the creation of an investigative commission instead of the chairman of parliament. (Who will be the parliamentarians who will discuss the economy, and not just their own incomes, that remains to be seen)!," Zurabishvili wrote on social media.
For information, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze released a video message regarding consumer prices, noting that "we will actively work with representatives of distribution companies and market chains to achieve price reductions for our fellow citizens." He also proposed the creation of a parliamentary commission to assess the issue.
