Irakli Kadagishvili: Developments in Venezuela have once again shown how desperate the opposition is - they are clutching at straws even in Venezuela! Even joining Venezuela’s non-recognition policy is unacceptable to them

Developments in Venezuela have once again shown how desperate the opposition is - they are clutching at straws even in Venezuela, and even joining Venezuela’s non-recognition policy is unacceptable to them, Georgian Dream MP Irakli Kadagishvili told the media today.

According to Kadagishvili, Georgia’s response to the processes unfolding in Venezuela will be aligned with statements made by the international community.

“There are two sides to this issue. One is international law and the UN Charter - in this regard, the situation is negative. The other side is the factual reality of the policy the United States is pursuing toward South America and Venezuela in particular. These are the two realities we are facing.

Our position is what the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated. Our reaction will be in line with the statements made by the international community. It is important for Georgia that the unlawful recognition by the Venezuelan authorities of the independence of Abkhazia and the so-called South Ossetia be reversed. We expect this specific result from Venezuela, and once the transition period is over, we will take appropriate steps within the framework of the non-recognition policy.

Developments in Venezuela have once again shown how desperate the opposition is - they are clutching at straws even in Venezuela! Even joining Venezuela’s non-recognition policy is unacceptable to them. When Mamuka Mdinaradze expressed a fully coherent and correct position, which should have been acceptable to everyone since it specifically concerned the non-recognition policy, for the opposition and their propaganda, the issue of Georgia’s territorial integrity once again became nothing more than a subject of speculation,” Kadagishvili said.
