And yet I won. These young people who are fighting for freedom to the end - Ivanishvili and the Dream are a peculiar cultural phenomenon, they are dragging us to a place, a path of return to which I have blown up long ago, and the only thing left for them is personal revenge on me. The only question is, how long will the Georgian people watch this calmly? - the imprisoned third president, Mikheil Saakashvili, writes in a letter posted on his social network page.
Mikheil Saakashvili talks about the years of his rule and names the "mental revolution for Georgia" as his main achievement.
“The main thing I have achieved for Georgia is not a new Batumi, Sighnaghi, bridges, airports, roads or tourism, not a parliamentary center in Kutaisi or new resorts, not the introduction of electricity, the main thing is a mental revolution.
Georgians have learned that corruption is bad and harms them, that “thieves in law” are not romantic, that education and hard work are good and the only way to success. Let’s be honest – these elementary principles were foreign to the majority of Georgians in 2004.
I remember my childhood in the 70s and 80s well, when stealing from the state was considered honorable, thieves were not only portrayed as positive heroes in books or films, but also held an honorable place in every neighborhood. It In the 90s, all these instincts were completely unleashed and turned into gang violence, drug addiction, and countless tragedies.
It was precisely in 2004 that all this began to turn around and Georgians began to move on to completely different tracks. On tracks that led us to the formation of a full-fledged successful state. Georgians believed that we could be equals among equals.
It was a path full of difficult obstacles. “Thieves in law” were behind November 7 and financed the election campaigns (this is not my conclusion, but that of the FBI and the Austrian police). Hundreds of thousands of corrupt police officers, officials, lecturers, who lost their left-wing income, rebelled against us.
Added to all this was the rampant Russian propaganda with its “stolen organs” and “eaten breasts” and, of course, the mistakes made by me and my comrades. All this left a double and rather bitter taste in the mentality of our nation, and that is why even today many find it difficult to pronounce my name and recognize my merits.
And yet I won. These young people who fight for freedom to the end, do not fear any danger and refuse to accept evil, are children of those 9 revolutionary years, whether they admit it or not.
Ivanishvili and the Dream are a peculiar cultural phenomenon, they are dragging us to a place, a path of return to which I have blown up long ago, and the only thing left for them is personal revenge on me.
The only question is, how long will the Georgian people watch this calmly? - writes Mikheil Saakashvili.
