Gia Volski – My attitude towards Irakli personally has always been warm, friendly - for me this is a personal tragedy

My attitude towards Irakli personally has always been warm, friendly - for me this is a personal tragedy, - the First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament, Gia Volski, said regarding the arrest of former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili.

According to him, the confession is welcome, but the crime itself is very serious.

"It is very difficult. This process has been going on for a long time. My attitude towards Irakli personally, his family, has always been warm, friendly. I have had a lot of business relations, I remember a lot of positive developments and, of course, this is a personal tragedy for me. In general, it is a tragedy for the team. It was very difficult for Bidzina Ivanishvili to imagine that a person who was in your team, always stood firm in his position, would take a step that contradicts the principles that led Bidzina Ivanishvili to return to politics. He warned everyone many times. The confession is welcome, but the crime itself is very serious," - said Volski.

For information, the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia signed a plea agreement with former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili - the type and length of his sentence has been determined as 5 years of imprisonment. According to the Prosecutor's Office, Gharibashvili has also been subjected to a fine of 1 million GEL as an additional punishment, and the money obtained as a result of criminal activity and seized during the search of his residence will also be confiscated.
