Giorgi Vashadze’s trial scheduled in court on the so-called sabotage case

A trial has been scheduled inat the Tbilisi City Court on the criminal case filed against the leader of the Strategy Builder, Giorgi Vashadze. The charges include so-called sabotage and aiding and abetting a foreign country in hostile activities.

The court will consider application of a preventive measure against Vashadze.

On November 6, 2025, the Prosecutor General’s Office initiated criminal proceedings against the leaders of various opposition parties - Mikheil Saakashvili, Giorgi Vashadze, Nika Gvaramia, Nika Melia, Zurab Japaridze, Elene Khoshtaria, Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze.

An investigation has been launched against Giorgi Vashadze under the articles of sabotage (Article 318, Part 1 - 2 to 4 years of imprisonment) and assistance to a foreign country in hostile activities (Article 319 - 7 to 15 years of imprisonment).

Giorgi Vashadze left prison on January 23. The 7-month prison term imposed on him by the court has expired. In this case, the case concerned his refusal to cooperate with the investigative commission established in the parliament.
