The sale of Imedi TV for 1,000 GEL indicates that this company is bankrupt and its price is not even 1,000 GEL. The real value is equal to 0, because this company has debts of more than 450 million GEL, - this is how opposition politician Roman Gotsiridze assessed the sale of Imedi TV by businessman Irakli Rukhadze.
According to him, Imedi was not sold, but was given to [someone] as a burden.
"According to the latest information from the Communications Commission, the audit report of Imedi shows that this company had a loss of 67 million GEL in 2024, whereas the entire state machine works on Imedi and everyone - municipalities, city hall, parliament, government and state bodies - is obliged to advertise on Imedi. Just like all large businesses.
Imedi was not sold, but rather was given to [someone] as a burden. It is strange why some company would take on obligations that will have serious consequences. What are these people taking on? Why are they putting their families at risk? The company? Will they pay 50 million GEL in Imedi's losses every year? No, of course, there is a deal here that Bidzina Ivanishvili will cover these debts again. Imedi has debts in Bidzina Ivanishvili's banks and companies, and partly has Rukhadze’s debts. No one will demand this debt. Part of this deal is that future expenses will be financed by them, probably by Rukhadze as well. However, Rukhadze was not the main investor in Imedi. Officially, Cartu Bank and other companies of Bidzina Ivanishvili are mentioned in the debts of Imedi. In fact, Bidzina Ivanishvili invested 500 million GEL and will continue to do so in the future. But what is the purpose of these people's relationship with Ivanishvili, which is already of a criminal nature, where does this money come from and where does it go? What is it spent on? These loans are not transparent," said Roman Gotsiridze.
For information, businessman Irakli Rukhadze released a statement about the withdrawal of "Honeywell Partners" from "Tele-Imedi". As Rukhadze notes, “After long and tense consultations with our partners, we decided that in the current situation, the most reasonable solution is to say goodbye to Imedi.”
In addition, as bpn.ge writes, the company that owns Imedi TV was sold for a symbolic price of 1,000 GEL.
