Rasa Juknevičienė's report could become a laughing stock for "Georgian Dream," but if the German prosecutor's office comes out and says that under "Dream's" protection they are robbing our pensioners of money, this would be much more effective - "Dream" would react to this and get scared, - this was stated by Levan Gogichaishvili, one of the leaders of the "Gakharia For Georgia" party, as he assessed the fact that on February 25, the European Parliament's permanent rapporteur on Georgia, Rasa Juknevičienė, will present a report on Georgia to the Foreign Affairs Committee.
As Gogichaishvili noted during his guest appearance on "PalitraNews" program "Day's Newsroom," when discussing the effectiveness of sanctioning representatives of "Georgian Dream" or persons connected to them from the European Union, "we should not hope for this, because 'Dream' is to be defeated from within and not from the side."
"Every day, fraudulent 'call centers' under the leadership of 'Georgian Dream' rob pensioners, and then this money accumulates in Ivanishvili's and 'Georgian Dream's' black cash register. [To the list] this could also be added, and they could react to this. This money sometimes ends up in the Prime Minister's pocket, sometimes in the hands of the SSS [State Security Service] leaders, sometimes in 'Georgian Dream's' cash register. It's better to look specifically. Mrs. Rasa can write this too. This would be much more effective.
In my opinion, Mrs. Rasa's report could become a laughing stock for 'Georgian Dream.' These people are already giggling about it and don't take it seriously, but if the German prosecutor's office comes out and says that under 'Georgian Dream's' protection our pensioners are being robbed of money, this, of course, would be problematic for 'Georgian Dream.' Or if an official representative of another EU state comes out and says that with the support and protection of 'Georgian Dream,' some people are participating in these criminal schemes and then this money is deposited into 'Dream's' accounts - 'Dream' would, of course, react to this and get scared. They will start laughing at Rasa's report. This is the reality. As they have done in recent years, they will continue the same way. They will come out and say this or that. In reality, they will assess some things, maybe say something correctly somewhere, maybe incorrectly. They will laugh, but if Germany's prosecutor comes out and says about 'Dream' that it protects fraudulent 'call centers' which fraudulently appropriate our pensioners' money - they won't be able to laugh at this because they will get scared.
As for sanctioning persons connected to 'Georgian Dream,' our political team has never based great hopes on this. In general, we think that 'Dream' is to be defeated on the spot and not from the side. This has never been an end in itself for us. For someone to sanction a citizen of my country because I can't handle it and rely on someone else for this - this is not right. We must win by elections. We must convince the Georgian people, and not some state representative to issue sanctions on a specific citizen of Georgia. This is my worldview; others have different ones. Elections are to be won here. We should not hope that some kind uncle in Europe will remember to impose sanctions. This is our job to do, not Rasa's or other people's. How many 'reports' does she need to make... They have really thrown it into ridicule, and on the contrary, they use all this against the European future. 'Dream's' propaganda uses this very well. They will bring it out, then compare it to statements about Saakashvili, and that's the end of their reputation. When a person says about a man [Mikheil Saakashvili] that he is a political prisoner... A person who sacrificed this country in the direct sense, in the perception of many other people, massively violated people's rights. When a person hears such a statement from European parliamentarians that Saakashvili is a political prisoner, the reputation and trust in their words no longer have any value," - stated Gogichaishvili.
In addition, Gogichaishvili discussed the perspective of opposition unity and noted that this will not happen from their side. According to him, one of the reasons for this is that the "Akhali" party has to explain where it got over 30 million GEL for the election campaign in authoritarianism.
"There will be no unification from our side in this direction. With the murderers of Sandro Girgvliani, in the direct sense, whom we fought and defeated - we cannot enter into any alliance with them in 2025; it's impossible. There is a clear ideological difference; everyone must understand this. With those people who fought on Saakashvili's side on October 1 and wished misfortune on half of Georgia - we will never enter into any political alliance with them. The 'National Movement,' which is split into simple multiples, can do whatever it wants - unite or disunite. These people have to explain where they got over 30 million for the elections? How did the 'Akhali' party earn tens of millions of GEL for the election campaign in authoritarianism? They have to explain this not only to us.
I know for sure, in the direct sense, that Bidzina Ivanishvili gave Gilauri the green light for that money to be brought to them. I assume so. He brought that money there, but they have to explain to their own voters how they earned tens of millions of GEL for the election campaign in a dictatorship. Second - that 'Georgian Dream' is super strong today in its political reality, this is their merit. Regarding the parliament, it's understandable, but Kakha Kaladze's party, the 'National Movement,' and other idiots did everything so that people would not go to the local elections.
We couldn't sit at the working table with them. It's impossible; it's wrong, morally wrong. We haven't damaged anyone. 'Georgian Dream' used these idiots. They split the 'National Movement' in half; they lost votes. The 'National Movement' was getting 27-28%. Where did 6-7% go? Due to the split, those votes they lost basically went to 'Georgian Dream.' 'Dream' strengthened them by having these people spend money on that people. We lost votes because people did not come to the local elections. They didn't come because from both sides there was strong convincing of people that going to elections made no sense. We were right. A right person sometimes ends up in such a situation," - stated Gogichaishvili.
Also, according to Gogichaishvili, "opposition parties must prepare for the 2028 parliamentary elections, because until then there is no visible reality that could force the government to call snap elections."
"The only thing that could have brought snap elections to this country was participation in the local elections. For me, sabotage is what they carried out regarding the local elections; I think under 'Georgian Dream's' conducting and orchestration. Somewhere it was planned; they saw in the numbers that they would lose Tbilisi, Batumi, Rustavi, Kutaisi, and other big cities; they thought that in the elections with the same reality, even with rigging, they couldn't win, and they needed these people. They remembered those people on whom they had paid money before the elections. This issue will not end like this. They should know that we are following these issues closely. You tell me that I have something in common with those people who collaborate with 'Dream'? Do you know Ivanishvili's nature and function? When a man pays money to a person and that person takes his money - he does whatever he wants to him. If he wants, he arrests him, then releases him; then opens some case, then confiscates his passport. Imagine, for a less serious crime he sends him to prison, and for an especially serious crime [sabotage, treason - imagine how serious it is], if he wants, he bails him out. He plays these people however he wants. Those people have thrown themselves into [this situation]. When you touch the devil's money, this devil does whatever he wants to you," - noted Gogichaishvili.
