Today, the opposition is showing unity, now it must show strength, and one of the directions should be to demand sectoral sanctions against the dictatorship, including competently exposing Ivanishvili’s assistance to Russia and Iran, in circumventing sanctions. The opposition really has the competence for this, - reads a letter of the third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili.

As Saakashvili notes, a necessary prerequisite for “toppling the regime” is the closure of those sources of income that “sectoral Western economic sanctions” require.

“History has accelerated too much and Georgia can no longer remain in a state of pause. If we want the West to help us, with more sanctions or comprehensive support for the resistance movement, we need to show unity and strength. Today the opposition is showing unity, now it must show strength and one of the directions should be to demand sectoral sanctions against the dictatorship, including competent exposure of Ivanishvili’s assistance to Russia and Iran, in circumventing sanctions, and the opposition really has the competence for this. The main reason why Ivanishvili has completely gone crazy in recent years is the huge amount of money earned with the blood of Ukrainians and the misery of Iranians. We can clearly see this in the form of Russian constructions in Tbilisi and Batumi, as well as thousands of newly registered Iranian forms. The “Arab cities” are also designed entirely for Russian and Iranian buyers, therefore, the necessary prerequisite for toppling the regime is the elimination of these sources of income, which requires sectoral Western economic sanctions, including sanctions on Georgian banks, is impossible without imposing sanctions.

The argument that broad economic sanctions will also harm the people is complete nonsense, because the people and the country are heading towards destruction. This is the same as not treating cancer, saying that chemotherapy harms the body when cancer kills. We must take into account that there is almost no Western money or “investments” in Georgia, only Russian or Iranian. Therefore, imposing sanctions is not a problem for the West, now the main thing is to justify the necessity of these sanctions. If we separate Trump's attitude, what Ivanishvili is doing is what Trump hates the most - playing games - it is Ivanishvili who has been playing games with the Americans all this time - receiving Rubio's message, then first demanding the return of the Swiss bank money and the lifting of sanctions.

Now he is ready to refuse this, if America does not demand the release of political prisoners and a change in policy, all this is called games. The fact is that the only country in our wide region that America does not talk to seriously and and that plays games with America, usually ends very badly, especially under Trump," Saakashvili writes on the social network.
