Prosecutor's Office: The physical education teacher who committed indecent acts without violence against five students who had not reached the ages of 14 and 16 in Zugdidi has been sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the Zugdidi District Court fully shared the evidence presented by the prosecution and found the accused guilty on the facts of indecent acts committed without violence against persons who had not reached the ages of fourteen and sixteen.

“At the court hearing, the presented evidence confirmed that the accused, who worked as a physical education teacher at one of the public schools in the Zugdidi Municipality, in 2024-2025, using a position of trust, authority, and influence, committed indecent acts without violence against five students who had not reached the ages of fourteen and sixteen.

Law enforcement officers arrested the accused on June 12, 2025. He was charged under Article 141, Part 2, Subparagraph 'z' of the Criminal Code of Georgia (indecent acts without violence against a person who had not reached the age of sixteen, committed by the offender with prior knowledge, using a position of trust, authority, or influence — six episodes) and under Article 141, Part 2, Subparagraphs 'v' and 'z' (indecent acts without violence against a person who had not reached the age of fourteen, committed by the offender with prior knowledge, using a position of trust, authority, or influence — two episodes), and pretrial detention was imposed as a measure of restraint.

The Zugdidi District Court found the accused fully guilty on the presented charges and determined the type and measure of punishment as 11 years of imprisonment,” — the information states.
