Gubaz Sanikidze after questioning - They had questions regarding my statement - I won't hide it, I also had questions with them, but they couldn't answer them

As part of the investigation launched by the State Investigation Service, the questioning of opposition politician Gubaz Sanikidze before a magistrate judge at the Tbilisi City Court has ended.

Sanikidze had been answering questions from the State Investigation Service investigators for almost an hour.

After the questioning, he only stated that he had questions for the agency himself, but he did not receive answers.

"They had questions about my statement, I will not hide it, I also had questions for them. I answered all the questions, they could not answer my questions," Sanikidze said.

He did not answer other questions asked by journalists, including whether he might be in the role of a defendant.

In addition to Gubaz Sanikidze, opposition politician Givi Targamadze has been summoned for questioning, whose position is not yet known. Former Defense Minister Tina Khidasheli and Giorgi Kandelaki, a member of the "Laboratory for the Study of the Soviet Past", will also be questioned. They will also give their testimony before a magistrate judge.

The investigators will ask them questions about their public statements, which "concerned the increase in Iranian influence in Georgia".

For information, Givi Targamadze, Tina Khidasheli, Gubaz Sanikidze and Giorgi Kandelaki have been summoned for questioning within the framework of the investigation ongoing under Article 319 of the Criminal Code, which involves assisting a foreign country, a foreign organization or an organization under foreign control in hostile activities.
