Giorgi Kandelaki is giving testimony before a magistrate judge as part of an investigation launched by the State Security Service

Within the framework of the investigation launched by the State Security Service (SSS), the questioning of Giorgi Kandelaki, a member of the “Soviet Past Research Laboratory,” is ongoing at Tbilisi City Court before a magistrate judge. He is giving testimony in the presence of the magistrate judge.

Tina Khidasheli, the former Minister of Defense, has also been summoned at 11:00.

Yesterday, within the same SSS-initiated investigation, opposition politician Gubaz Sanikidze was questioned before a magistrate judge at Tbilisi City Court.

For information: Givi Targamadze, Tina Khidasheli, Gubaz Sanikidze, and Giorgi Kandelaki have been summoned for questioning as part of an ongoing investigation under Article 319 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to assistance to a foreign country, a foreign organization, or an organization subordinated to foreign control in hostile activities.

The SSS investigators are likely questioning them about public statements they made, which concerned “the increase of Iranian influence in Georgia.”
