Questioning of Major General Vakhtang Kapanadze has been completed

Within the framework of the investigation launched by the State Security Service, the questioning of Major General Vakhtang Kapanadze has been completed. His questioning at the agency lasted more than three hours.

According to representatives of the State Security Service, the questions to Vakhtang Kapanadze likely concerned statements he made regarding Iran. As Kapanadze stated after the questioning, he has never been and is not a member of any political party.

“I answered the questions that were asked of me. I was summoned as a witness in general, regarding the existing situation,” — stated Kapanadze.

He also added that he has never been a member of any party.

“I have never been a member of the National Movement, and I am not. I have never been and am not a member of any party,” — noted Kapanadze.

In the same case, former Minister of Defense Tina Khidasheli, opposition politician Gubaz Sanikidze, and Giorgi Kandelaki, a member of the “Soviet Past Research Laboratory,” have already been questioned before a magistrate judge.

For information: Givi Targamadze, Tina Khidasheli, Gubaz Sanikidze, and Giorgi Kandelaki were summoned within the framework of an ongoing investigation under Article 319 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to assistance to a foreign country, a foreign organization, or an organization subordinated to foreign control in hostile activities.
