Powers provided for by Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence to be exercised by State Audit Office instead of National Agency of Public Registry

The powers provided for by the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence will be exercised by the State Audit Service instead of the National Agency of Public Registry.

The above is provided for by the planned amendments to the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence, which were prepared by the Georgian Dream deputies. Along with it, amendments are being made to the Law on Administrative Procedure of Georgia and the Law on the State Audit Service.

We would like to remind you that based on the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence adopted by the Parliament in May 2024, a register of so-called organizations representing the interests of foreign powers was created in the National Agency of Public Registry of the Ministry of Justice. According to the said law, non-governmental and media organizations that receive more than 20% of their income from abroad must be registered in the said register. Otherwise, the existing law provides for a fine of 25 thousand GEL.
