According to one of the leaders of the “United National Movement,” Lasha Parulava, former Interior Minister Aleksandre Chikaidze is suing him and demanding the payment of 50,000 GEL.
Parulava explained that Chikaidze’s lawsuit filed against him, as well as against TV company “Formula” and the hosts of the program “Droebis” (Time), is related to corrupt facts about so-called call centers that have been covered multiple times in the media.
“Former Interior Minister Aleksandre Chikaidze, who is a member of Irakli Garibashvili’s clan, is suing me in court and demanding 50,000 GEL from me. The lawsuit is connected to corrupt facts that have been covered many times in the media - the possible patronage of so-called call centers, ensuring security guarantees for them, and the alleged schemes for investing the profits received from this activity into business. My friends and I have been demanding for years that an investigation be launched into these issues. This includes repeatedly raising publicly the question of Aleksandre Chikaidze’s possible financial ties to the airline GeoSky, which belongs to a Kakheti businessman and is associated with Irakli Garibashvili’s inner circle. It is noteworthy that because of the coverage of this corrupt story, Chikaidze filed a lawsuit in court not only against me, but also against TV company ‘Formula’ and the hosts of the program ‘Droebis.’ It is symbolic that today, for asking critical questions, a person who, during his time as Interior Minister, could not distinguish the Taliban from a person, but after leaving the ministerial post became rich like an oligarch, is suing us in court. This case once again demonstrates how a group connected to the authorities is trying to use the court to intimidate and silence critical voices. Unfortunately, this is only one episode of the system that has been built in Georgia for years, the main beneficiary of which is Bidzina Ivanishvili,” - stated Parulava.
