The main essence [of the questioning] was whether my statement in such a situation harms the country. My answer is unequivocally "no!" - opposition politician Givi Targamadze stated to journalists after completing his questioning at the State Security Service.
According to him, during the questioning he recorded that all the information he had came from open sources.
"I have no expectations whatsoever. The main essence [of the questioning] was whether my statement in such a situation harms the country. My answer is unequivocally 'no!' I tried to explain that what is happening harms the country and that its prevention is not being carried out. My assessment was given so that they would work more and prevent what harms the country.
All the information I had was from open sources - they have it too, and everyone has it. Appropriate work needs to be done on these facts so that this does not continue. Unfortunately, parallel to our questionings, the situation is developing very publicly, brazenly, very purposefully, and uncontrollably. Therefore, I hope that they will intensify their efforts and direct them where they should be directed. No statement or discussion creates a threat - the threat is created by the actions that continue, whose prevention this service must carry out. The fact is that this system is not working properly; it is failing to carry out prevention, and I want it to do so. That was my goal," - stated Givi Targamadze.
