Salome Samadashvili - I want to tell all the victims of the regime: you have found a new important mechanism to hold the regime accountable for all violations

First of all, I would like to say to all the victims of the regime: Yesterday you gained a new important mechanism to hold this regime legally accountable for all violations, - the leader of Lelo-Strong Georgia, Salome Samadashvili, said in response to the report published within the framework of the OSCE Moscow Mechanism.

As Salome Samadashvili noted, it was completely shameful that the statement made yesterday by the "regime representative", which, using the language of Russian diplomacy, accuses the OSCE of political bias, instead of immediately committing to implement all recommendations.

"In the future, when history will evaluate all the decisive moments that brought the Georgian people closer to victory in the fight against the violent regime that violates the Constitution of Georgia and the norms of international law, I am sure that March 12, 2026 will be an important date.

The report established the systematic violation of human rights and political rights in Georgia, the facts of the systematic use of violence by the government against Georgians, and called on the international community to use all powerful legal mechanisms against the regime if the Ivanishvili government does not implement the recommendations provided for in the conclusion.

The reference to the activation of the mechanism of the International Criminal Court in The Hague is very important.

I would like to say first of all to all the victims of the regime, to the people who are illegally imprisoned today, to the people who were beaten, poisoned, humiliated, to the people whose families were driven to financial ruin by the use of inhumane fines, and to all those who have fallen victim to this regime, that yesterday you gained a new important mechanism, we gained a mechanism to hold this regime legally accountable for all its violations.

Following yesterday’s report, all the victims of the regime are given the opportunity to apply to the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in The Hague to request the opening of an investigation. I hope that all the people who have fallen victim to the regime’s violence will take advantage of this opportunity.

It was absolutely shameful to hear the statement made yesterday by the regime's representative regarding the OSCE, using the language of Russian diplomacy to accuse the OSCE of political bias, instead of immediately committing to implementing all recommendations. It was a shameful response. I very much hope that, given the expected international legal pressure that this regime faces after the OSCE conclusion, Ivanishvili's ruling regime will once again think about whether it is in their best interests to speak in such language with the international community," Samadashvili noted.

She also said that the OSCE report, as well as the resolution adopted by the European Parliament yesterday, remain an important tool for protecting the freedom of Georgian citizens.

"The immediate release of political prisoners, the cessation of persecution of political opponents, the immediate investigation of acts of violence against citizens, including the poisoning with an unknown chemical substance, the repeal of repressive laws, and the preparation of the country for fair and free elections - these are, in short, the most important recommendations that Ivanishvili's regime must immediately implement if it wants to avoid not only further international isolation, but also international legal persecution”, said Salome Samadashvili.

For information, the OSCE published a report on Georgia prepared within the framework of the Moscow Mechanism. The report discusses the developments in Georgia since the spring of 2024 and provides recommendations. According to the document, the main findings are that during the mandate period, Georgia has experienced a democratic backsliding.
