“Saddened by the passing of His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia,” wrote the Foreign Minister of Latvia, Baiba Braže, on social media.

“His lifelong devotion to faith, to unity and the spiritual strength, and better future for the Georgian people leaves an enduring legacy,” Baiba Braže wrote on X.

For reference, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, passed away at the age of 93. The official announcement was made at the Caucasus Medical Center by the Patriarchal locum tenens, Metropolitan Shio (Mujiri).
