“We express our deep sorrow over the passing of His Holiness, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II. His life and remarkable service will never be forgotten. May his soul rest in peace,” the statement reads.

For reference, His Holiness and Beatitude, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II, passed away at the age of 93. Following his passing, a period of mourning was declared in Georgia.
