In difficult periods, Ilia II led his flock with fatherly wisdom and love and steadfastly defended the mission of the Holy Georgian Church, said the Catholicos of All Armenians, Garegin II, in his statement.

“His Holiness Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II’s many years of spiritual service were a testament to steadfast faith and devoted spiritual leadership. His patriarchate was marked by the revival of spiritual life in Georgia, as well as the strengthening and renewal of church life. In difficult times, the Patriarch led his flock with fatherly wisdom and love and firmly defended the mission of the Holy Georgian Church,” Garegin II stated.

It is also noted that Garegin II extended his wishes to the clergy of the Georgian Orthodox Church and the grieving Georgian people, expressing hope that the memory of His Holiness will always remain bright in the hearts of his faithful and serve as a source of inspiration for future generations.
