It is very sad when we see that it is becoming even more difficult for Georgian citizens to obtain a visa of the United States of America - the fact that the Georgian Dream has destroyed relations with America is, of course, one of the reasons why Georgia is on this very sad and shameful list today, - said Grigol Gegelia, one of the leaders of Lelo-Strong Georgia.
According to him, this is precisely why it is necessary for the Georgian Dream regime to be democratically replaced by a force that maintains a strategic partnership with America and the civilized world.
"It is very sad when we see that it is becoming even more difficult for Georgian citizens to obtain a visa to the United States of America. On the one hand, this is obviously caused by migration dynamics and the negative practice that has developed over the years, when Georgian citizens remain in one state or another even after the expiration of their visa, but on the other hand, we must very clearly understand that this is also due to diplomatic and political reasons, and the Georgian Dream regime is certainly to blame for this. Proof of this is that Georgia is the only state from this region that has been included in this unfortunate list, and there are not even Armenia or Azerbaijan, which once again reminds us that diplomatic reasons have their very important role, including in this direction. That is why it is important to democratically replace this regime with a regime that will, on the contrary, be in strategic partnership with the United States and the rest of the civilized world. The fact that the Georgian Dream has destroyed relations with America is, of course, one of the reasons why Georgia is on this very sad and shameful list today,” said Grigol Gegelia.
He also responded to the call of American senators and congressmen to the US government to join European partners in using sanctions and other instruments to insist that the Georgian government pay attention to the recommendations of the Moscow Mechanism, noting that the pressure on the Georgian Dream is increasing.
“We see that the pressure on the Georgian Dream regime is increasing. This time we see that the Helsinki Commission, American senators and congressmen are joining the call to implement the Moscow Mechanism. The call is very clear, America must sanction the regime if it refuses to implement the recommendations within the framework of the Moscow Mechanism. This is precisely the spirit that our political power had and has, and the doctrinal offer that we made to Georgian society is in full accordance with this growing foreign political pressure,” said Gegelia.
For information, Georgia has been added to the list of countries whose citizens will have to post a bond of up to $15,000 for certain types of US visas. In particular, on March 18, the US State Department added Georgia and 11 more countries (Cambodia, Ethiopia, Grenada, Lesotho, Mauritius, Mongolia, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Papua New Guinea, Seychelles, Tunisia) to the list of countries whose citizens will have to post a bond for certain short-term visas. These are B1 (business) and B2 (tourism/medical treatment) visas.
