The Chairman of the Supreme Council of Adjara, Davit Gabaidze, is stepping down. He announced this at a briefing.
“I have been thinking about this for a long time. I had consultations with the team that I should make this decision. We discussed it together. The only motivation is that I have held this position for almost ten years, and it is truly time for something to change in my life.
The word ‘clan’ is not a term I would use here. I was chairman before Tornike Rizhvadze came, and I don’t think it is correct to link these two facts.
At this stage, naturally, I will have to remain in the Supreme Council for some time. I have offers from my team, I have certain decisions to make, and I need to go through these consultations with my family.
My successor could be any member of the majority. Everyone is worthy. The team should decide, the majority should make the decision. If it is Tsotne Ananidze, I will welcome his candidacy,” said Davit Gabaidze.
According to reports, a member of the Supreme Council of Adjara from “Georgian Dream,” Tsotne Ananidze, is being considered for the position of Chairman.
It is worth noting that Davit Gabaidze has held the position of Chairman of the Supreme Council of Adjara since 2016.
