Lasha Parulava: The so-called fight against prices has in reality turned into 100 days of price increases - virtually everything has become more expensive, from utilities to basic food products

“The so-called fight against prices has actually turned into 100 days of rising prices, because behind the increased cost of living stand the ruling party’s financial interests and corruption,” wrote United National Movement member Lasha Parulava on social media.

As he notes, “virtually everything in the country has become more expensive - from utility costs to essential food products.”

Irakli Kobakhidze’s 100-day ‘fight’ against high prices and the real outcome - what has become more expensive since then: electricity - +33%; bread/flour - +10–20%; meat - +10–20%; vegetables/fruits - more than +30%; dairy products - +15–25%; food services/restaurants - +15–25%; eggs and the full range of products - increased; medications - +10–15%; road fines - doubled; import/customs clearance for cars under 6 years old - doubled or increased fivefold; fuel - +0.40–0.50 GEL per liter; intercity transport - +20%; irrigation (watering) - increased for farmers; marriage registration - increased; utility bills - significantly higher overall; ban on single-use plastics - increasing product costs.

Practically everything has become more expensive, from utilities to basic food products. The so-called fight against prices has, in reality, turned into 100 days of price increases, as the rising cost of living is driven by the ruling party’s financial interests and corruption,” Parulava wrote.
