According to Metropolitan Ilarion of Mestia and Upper Svaneti, no decision was made at today’s Holy Synod session regarding the age requirement for a Patriarchal candidate.
“So far, nothing has been determined; this remains a matter for further discussion, and we will definitely have to meet again.
At today’s Synod session, decisions were made on procedural and organizational matters. Nothing will be changed in the statute, as this cannot be done - it must be amended by an extended council once a new Patriarch is elected,” Metropolitan Ilarion said.
Regarding the issue of education, he noted that it was not discussed during today’s Synod session.
He also stated that the extended council will be held at the Holy Trinity Cathedral.
