Grigol Liluashvili remains in custody

Grigol Liluashvili, the former head of the State Security Service (SSS), who was detained on charges of accepting a particularly large bribe, remains in prison.

This decision was made by Judge Nato Khujadze of the Tbilisi City Court.

At today’s hearing, the admissibility of evidence was also discussed; however, the process was postponed at this stage and will continue on April 22.

For information: The former head of the State Security Service, Grigol Liluashvili, was arrested on December 23 while he had come to the Prosecutor’s Office for questioning. He is charged under subparagraph “g” of part 2 and subparagraph “e” of part 3 of Article 338 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to accepting a particularly large bribe by a group acting under prior agreement. The punishment provided is imprisonment from 11 to 15 years.
