The Georgian citizen illegally detained on April 2, 2026 is free and is in the territory controlled by the central government, the State Security Service reports.

“In the process of releasing the Georgian citizen from illegal detention, both the hotline mechanism operating with the direct involvement of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Georgia, as well as all relevant instruments at the disposal of the central government, were actively used.

The central government, the State Security Service, continues to work actively to release all Georgian citizens illegally detained in the occupied territories,” reads the information.
