Prosecutor's Office charges brother of Marneuli mayor with group violence - according to the investigation, due to a dispute related to business activities, the accused and his companions injured the victim with batons

The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has filed charges against Kenan Ismailov, brother of Marneuli Mayor Daur Ismailov, for a group assault carried out in Marneuli Municipality.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, within the framework of the investigation ongoing at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was established that on April 6, 2026, due to a dispute over business activities in Marneuli Municipality, the accused, together with his companions, inflicted injuries on the victim using batons.

“Law enforcement officers arrested the accused on the same day. He was charged under Part 2 of Article 120 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (intentional minor harm to health, by a group), which provides for a sentence of 3 to 5 years of imprisonment.

The prosecutor's office will apply to the court within the time limit established by law with a motion to impose detention on the accused as a preventive measure.

The investigation at the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues in order to identify other persons involved in the crime,” reads the information.
