Maka Botchorishvili meets with Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Michael O'Flaherty

Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili held a meeting with the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Michael O'Flaherty, who is visiting Georgia.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the parties discussed current issues of cooperation, as well as ongoing processes in the country and steps taken to protect human rights.

“Maka Botchorishvili briefed the Commissioner for Human Rights on the grave security, humanitarian and human rights situation in the Russian-occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali.

The Minister drew attention to the need to keep the Russia-Georgia conflict high on the agenda of the international community, including the Council of Europe, and in this context, underlined the importance of the Secretary General’s consolidated reports.

As part of the visit, the Commissioner for Human Rights visited the village of Odzisi, located near the occupation line, and the IDP settlement in the village of Tserovani,” reads the report.
