According to the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, the meetings to be held within the framework of the visit to Turkey will focus on bilateral relations.
Papuashvili notes that in Istanbul, where the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) will be held, he will have the opportunity to meet with the Speakers of the Parliaments of the European Union member states.
As Shalva Papuashvili told journalists, the meeting will discuss the unfortunate fact that Brussels is increasingly blocking dialogue and switching to the language of directives.
"I will have a meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of North Macedonia. Of course, as a candidate country, we will talk with him about the challenges they face, how the European integration process is going for them. We will also have the opportunity to meet with the Speakers of the Parliaments of the EU member states. We will talk about the unfortunate situation we are observing. Unfortunately, Brussels is increasingly blocking dialogue and switching to the language of directives, which I think is wrong and these problems should be resolved from within the EU. Unfortunately, Brussels today creates more problems for the candidate countries than it supports and helps them on the path to European integration, and in this regard, direct communication with the parliaments of the member states is important for us. We will also have a meeting with representatives of the Gulf countries, the parliaments of the Emirates and Saudi Arabia, and we will talk about economic relations and the current situation in the region," he noted.
