Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia met Michael O'Flaherty, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights.
According to the Government Administration, during the meeting, the discussion focused on the close cooperation between Georgia and the Council of Europe, as well as the implementation of the 2024-2026 Human Rights Action Plan. The Prime Minister of Georgia reaffirmed the strong commitment of the Government of Georgia to the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms. It was noted that media pluralism, freedom of speech and freedom of expression are ensured in the country and guaranteed by the Constitution and legislation of Georgia.
The parties also discussed the difficult humanitarian situation in the occupied territories of Georgia in terms of human rights, as well as the peace initiatives of the Government of Georgia aimed at building trust.
The meeting was attended by Maka Botchorishvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of Government Administration.
