Gogita Todradze reappointed as Executive Director of Geostat for a new term

By decision of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Gogita Todradze has been reappointed as the Executive Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) for a new term.

According to Geostat, Todradze was selected for the position through a competitive selection process.

“The selection process was conducted by a commission established under the Government of Georgia’s Decree No. 110 of March 16, 2026. After evaluating the candidates, the commission selected Gogita Todradze and submitted his candidacy to the Prime Minister for appointment.

Gogita Todradze has held the position of Executive Director of Geostat since 2018. He holds higher education degrees in economics (statistics) and law from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Since 2006, he has held a Doctor of Economics degree.

He has nearly 25 years of experience working at Geostat. He began his career in 2002 as an economist in the Population Census Division. Over the years, he served as Deputy Head of the Social Infrastructure Division, Deputy Head and Head of the Tbilisi Statistics Division. From 2006 to 2016, he was Head of the Business Statistics Department; from 2016 to 2018, Deputy Executive Director; and since 2018, Executive Director.

Gogita Todradze is actively involved in international statistical activities. Since 2017, he has participated in expert working groups of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). From 2019 to 2022, he was a member of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC).

In 2018, he was elected as a member of the Bureau of the Statistics Committee of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), and from 2020 to 2022 he served as Chair of that Bureau.

Since June 2025, he has been a member and Vice President of the Bureau of the Conference of European Statisticians (CES) of UNECE, and in September 2025 he was elected as a member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI).

In addition, Gogita Todradze has 15 years of continuous teaching experience. Since 2009, he has been lecturing in statistics at various higher education institutions. Since 2017, he has been an Associate Professor at the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA), and since 2022, a Full Professor at the Caucasus International University.

The Executive Director of Geostat is appointed by the Prime Minister of Georgia for a four-year term. Gogita Todradze will begin his new term on May 3, 2026,” the statement reads.
