Kakha Kaladze: What door-to-door campaigning can Vashadze or similar figures do, who should they meet, and what should they talk about? If any misfortune could have happened to the people, they caused it all when they were in power - they have no political future

“What kind of door-to-door campaigning can Vashadze or similar figures conduct, who should they meet, and what should they talk about? Today, access to information on various issues in the country is freely available,” said Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, commenting on a statement by Giorgi Vashadze, leader of “Strategy Aghmashenebeli,” regarding May 26.

According to him, the majority of the population clearly sees who is who, what they do, and what their main motivations are in relation to Georgia.

“What kind of door-to-door campaigning can Vashadze or similar figures conduct, who should they meet, and what should they talk about? Today, people can freely access information on various issues. The majority of the population clearly sees who is who, what they do, and what their main motivation is regarding Georgia. These are the same people who governed the country for years, and if any misfortune could have happened to the Georgian people, they made sure it did. They did everything.

Accordingly, they have no political future, no matter how many separate parties they create or what new names they adopt. They are all elements that originated from the same evil represented by the ‘United National Movement’ and were controlled by external forces. Unfortunately, these processes continue even today,” Kaladze said.

Regarding the opposition’s planned rally on May 26, the mayor stated that May 26 is a national holiday — Georgia’s Independence Day — and accused the opposition of trying to use it for narrow political purposes.

“We know very well who these people are, what they serve, and who directs and assigns them tasks. They have no values connected to the country. They do not care at all about the concept of a homeland or love for the country. They have specific instructions and a mission, and they follow those directives,” Kaladze added.

For context, Giorgi Vashadze stated on the PalitraNews program “Polit-Kalaki” that the “opposition alliance” will conduct door-to-door meetings with the population from May 10 to May 26. According to him, on May 26, Georgia’s Independence Day, the alliance will hold its first large gathering.

“From May 10 to May 26, we will conduct a universal door-to-door campaign, initially in Tbilisi — representatives of the ‘opposition alliance’ will visit every district,” Vashadze said.
