State Security Service – The head of the Kodori Hydropower Department, part of the Enguri HPP, has been arrested for embezzlement of a large amount of funds – the company operates in the territory of occupied Abkhazia

The State Security Service has detained the head of the department of Kodori Hydropower Plant LLC, part of Enguri Hydropower Plant LLC, on the fact of embezzlement of a large amount of funds.

According to the State Security Service, the detained person fully cooperated with the investigation and confessed to the crime committed.

"As a result of operational and investigative measures carried out by the State Security Service, the head of the department of Kodori Hydropower Plant LLC, part of Enguri Hydropower Plant LLC, has been detained on the fact of embezzlement of a large amount of funds."

It is noteworthy that the aforementioned LLC operates on the territory of occupied Abkhazia.

The detained person fully cooperated with the investigation and confessed to the crime committed.

He was charged under Article 182, Part 2, Subparagraph "d" and Part 3, Subparagraph "b" of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for imprisonment for a term of 7 to 11 years.

For those who believe that by using the occupied territories of Georgia they will be able to appropriate and embezzle state funds: such a crime will not go unpunished, even if committed in the occupied territories," reads the statement.
