“This is likely more of a report-back, since no one is interested in their views,” said Levan Machavariani, a member of parliament from “Georgian Dream,” commenting on the meeting between the Opposition Alliance and British Ambassador Gareth Ward.

According to him, “the people they meet with — several ambassadors and European officials — are exactly the ones from whom these radicals receive instructions.”

“Visits to the British Ambassador, Mr. Herczynski, and Fischer are very frequent. There are also secret meetings, where afterward, almost like in a movie plot, the ambassador sneaks his guests out of the embassy — Lomjaria was escorted out like that not long ago. All of this is disgraceful, and these ambassadors are seriously damaging their reputation in the eyes of our citizens,” Machavariani said.

Speaking more broadly about the “Opposition Alliance,” Machavariani added that “when they are instructed from outside to sit down and unite again, of course, this will not last long.”

“When you do not have a shared idea, everything becomes artificial. When they are told from outside to come together again, naturally, it cannot last long. These are people who insult each other when they are not united, and then unite and look at each other with smiles. In this case, they are confronting Saakashvili, who is the creator of the rest of these ‘Mishists.’ Confrontation with Saakashvili will not work, because the largest party in this alliance is the ‘United National Movement.’

They are in chaos, and therefore it is difficult to maintain unity — they have absolutely no chance of preserving it. The trust they had from part of society a few years ago has been lost, because they have been fully exposed. Society knows they are controlled from outside, and for the past 14 years, since they left power, they have been engaged in sabotage and harmful activities against Georgia. All of this has ultimately reduced their political rating to zero,” Machavariani said.
