Irakli Kirktskhalia: Following the EU Ambassador’s statement, propaganda outlets launched a campaign to discredit Bidzina Ivanishvili - the goal is a change of government at any cost, and Ambassador Pavel Herczyński is part of this process’ vanguard

After the statement made by Pavel Herczyński about Georgia’s return to a “dark past,” local propaganda media outlets launched what he called an “absurd campaign” to discredit Bidzina Ivanishvili, said Irakli Kirktskhalia, Chair of the “Georgian Dream” faction, during a parliamentary plenary session.

According to him, this is not surprising, as “the public is well aware that the honorary chairman of the ruling political team is the main guarantor of Georgia’s sovereignty and peace in our country.”

“Let me draw public attention to the coordinated assault directed against Georgia, which has practically become part of our daily reality since the start of the war in Ukraine and the refusal to open a second front against our country and our people.

During this period, Georgia refused to open a second front and firmly defended its sovereignty, which ensured that, despite an extremely difficult geopolitical environment in a very complex region, we not only maintained peace but also set the country on an irreversible path of development.

That is why, from forces acting under informal oligarchic influence, we hear not only unjust and absurd criticism, but also attempts at provoked coups against the state have been averted.

It is important to emphasize that throughout this time, one of the strongest instruments used against Georgia as a tool of pressure and blackmail has been the country’s choice to become a member of the European Union. It is no secret that on this path, Georgia - objectively assessed as a leading country - is being artificially obstructed, while attempts are made to shift the blame onto the ‘Georgian Dream’ government, with the expectation of public dissatisfaction and a change of government at any cost.

At the forefront of this process are not only informal oligarchic forces within Eurobureaucracy and political leaders, but also certain ambassadors who are directly involved in violation of all diplomatic standards, including the EU Ambassador to Georgia, Pavel Herczyński.

Not to mention that before the 2024 parliamentary elections he called for voting against ‘Georgian Dream’, or that he blamed the Georgian government for halting the EU integration process - while his own controversial letter confirms that it was actually Eurobureaucrats who suspended Georgia’s EU integration process - his recent statements alone are enough to understand that his actions reflect the hand of the ‘deep state’, and that the aim is to launch a new wave of attacks against our country’s sovereignty,” Kirktskhalia stated.
