Ivanishvili’s regime has sent writer Beka Lokhishvili to 15 days in prison for a Facebook post. Ivanishvili is trying to take away Georgians’ natural rights and kill the freedom that we glorify with the Georgian anthem, reads a statement from the Federalists party.
As the statement says, everyone who believes that this country does not belong to Ivanishvili, but to the citizens of Georgia, should gather in the yard of Tbilisi State University on May 26.
“A free society and state are based on the belief that each individual has inalienable rights that no government has the right to infringe upon.
Every citizen of Georgia has the full constitutional right to freely express any opinion without fear of reprisal or persecution.
Ivanishvili is trying to establish a situation as the norm where exercising the constitutional right to expression is considered a crime, and imprisoning law-abiding citizens in complete violation of the Constitution is considered justice.
At the same time, in this way he protects his corrupt subordinates so that in response to the robbery and persecution of people, citizens do not have the right to criticize them.
All of us who believe that this country does not belong to Ivanishvili, but to the citizens of Georgia, will gather on May 26 in the yard of Tbilisi State University.
Only with a firm and universal protest will we defeat the traitorous regime and return the fate of the country to the hands of the citizens of Georgia. Glory to freedom! Glory to freedom!", - reads the statement.
