The Retail Association: Member companies have begun identifying products within the ‘family basket’ that will be subject to a special pricing policy, in order to ensure ongoing special offers as part of social responsibility - We hope producers and suppliers will provide preferential conditions

Member companies of the “Retail Association” have started identifying products within the so-called “family basket” that will fall under a special pricing policy, so that, within the framework of social responsibility, selected products in retail chains will continuously be offered under special promotions.

The statement notes that the effectiveness of this process significantly depends on all participants in the supply chain. Therefore, the association hopes that manufacturers and suppliers will provide the most favorable conditions possible, enabling wider access to basic essential products for the population.

The Retail Association issued a statement responding to the conclusions of the parliamentary temporary commission studying the pricing structure of food products, medicines, and fuel.

According to the statement, the association has reviewed the commission’s report, which is quite extensive and includes recommendations for medium- and long-term measures.

Within the short-term recommendations and international experience, the association highlights examples from France and Greece, which are not based on direct interference in market mechanisms, but rather on strengthening them through competition principles. Based on this experience, sector representatives have developed an approach that aims to achieve tangible short-term results while longer-term goals are being pursued.

As part of this initiative, member companies have begun identifying products in the “family basket” that will be subject to special pricing policies, so that selected goods chosen by retail networks will continuously be offered with special discounts as part of their social responsibility commitments.

It is also emphasized that the effectiveness of this process depends significantly on all participants in the supply chain. Accordingly, the association hopes that producers and suppliers will align with the retail sector’s approach and, within the framework of social responsibility, provide favorable conditions to ensure broad access to essential basic goods for the population.

The “Retail Association” stated that it is ready to continue constructive cooperation with both government institutions and private sector representatives in order to achieve sustainable and long-term results through joint efforts.
