Irakli Kobaklhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia met Alain Berset, Secretary General of the Council of Europe today.
According to the Government Administration , the meeting focused on the productive cooperation between Georgia and the Council of Europe. The Head of Government of Georgia reaffirmed the readiness of the authorities of the country towards dialogue and constructive engagement in both bilateral and multilateral formats.
The Georgian side expressed concern over the growing tendency of using international mechanisms for politically motivated purposes and voiced hope that this practice will change.
Particular emphasis was placed on the commitment of the Government of Georgia to safeguarding fundamental freedoms, advancing democratic reforms and ensuring the rule of law.
The meeting was attended by Maka Botchorishvili, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of Government Administration.
