Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, within the framework of the 8th Summit of the European Political Community, participated in a roundtable discussion on the topic of “Enhancing Connectivity and Economic Security”.
According to the Georgian Government, in his speech, Irakli Kobakhidze focused on Georgia’s special role in ensuring connectivity and spoke about the large-scale infrastructure projects that the Georgian government is implementing to support this function, including the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, high-speed highways and the Anaklia deep-sea port.
In addition, Irakli Kobakhidze also focused on the importance of diversifying transport and energy routes and, in this context, spoke about the strategic significance of the Southern Gas Corridor and the Black Sea Submarine Cable projects.
“The Head of the Georgian Government reaffirmed his readiness to continue close cooperation with partners and noted that strong connectivity is one of the main prerequisites for long-term stability.
The discussion was co-chaired by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Wever, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, North Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska-Davková, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioğlu participated in the discussion,” reads the press release.
