Over the past four years, there have been five different attempts to stage a revolution in Georgia, involving externally funded entities, and this is the context related to the adoption of specific laws, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said, commenting on the statement of the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.
Speaking about Kaja Kallas' statements, the Prime Minister noted that such statements are regrettable and unfair.
“Of course, such statements are regrettable. In general, you know what the context is, over the past four years there have been five different attempts to organize a revolution in Georgia, and external entities were involved in them, including the so-called non-governmental organizations, parties, media outlets, etc. This is the context that the adoption of specific laws was related to, this is the reality, we had to protect our national interests against external intervention, and we did all this successfully, we protected the national interests of our country. The rest is regrettable, such statements are regrettable, of course, they are not fair. We hope that such statements will be replaced with fair statements in the future,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
When asked why the government has difficulty convincing its partners and why there is criticism, Irakli Kobakhidze states that “when there is a blatant political interest, arguments do not work”.
"It's not about persuasion, there is a specific political interest, we have repeatedly told the public how all this started. At one time, there was a direct demand to join the war, this demand was directly voiced at a specific meeting, and this was followed by blackmail against the Georgian people and the Georgian government, which has been going on for all these years, and some people have also involved the European bureaucracy in all this, this is the general context. When there is a crude political interest, there, of course, arguments do not work, there are naked political interests and specific people are trying to use the European bureaucracy to pursue these interests.
We talk to everyone, we talk about what is happening in our country, what is happening around our country, and we also talk about how these relations should develop. This is politics, unfortunately there is a lot of dirt in politics, including in Europe, and the main thing is to change this situation. Unfortunately, there is a situation today that often wrong interests dominate in relation to Georgia. If this changes, the situation will improve," the Prime Minister said.
