A deliberate, “black campaign” is underway against the Church, and this incorrect attitude continues against Bishop Shio as well, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze told journalists regarding the election of the future Catholicos Patriarch.

According to Kakha Kaladze, no one has the right to interfere in the decisions that the Synod will make.

“This is not the first time that a deliberate, “black campaign” is underway against the Church. This incorrect attitude continues against Bishop Shio as well, to put it mildly. All of this has taken the form of a direct campaign, which is unthinkable and categorically unacceptable. No one has the right to interfere in the decisions that the Synod will make,” Kaladze said.
