The expanded Synod of the Georgian Orthodox Church, where a new Patriarch will be elected, will be held on May 11, at 13:00, in Tbilisi, in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.

The Patriarchate disseminates information about the above on social networks.

“Organizational and technical details related to the Synod will be announced later,” reads the information.

As a reminder, the Holy Synod has selected three candidates for the Patriarch’s position. According to the Synod’s decision, the candidates will be: the Patriarchal Throne, Metropolitan of Senaki and Chkhorotsku Shio (Mujiri), Metropolitan Jobi of the Diocese of Urbnisi and Ruisi, and Metropolitan Grigol of Poti and Khobi.
