According to activist Giorgi Romelashvili, Pridon Bubuteishvili, who was arrested during the 2024 protests, submits pardon request to Mikheil Kavelashvili

Pridon Bubuteishvili, convicted of assault on a police officer, and damage to another person's property during protests against the law on transparency of foreign influence, has appealed to President Mikheil Kavelashvili for pardon. Activist Giorgi Romelashvili writes on social media.

As the activist writes, Pridon Bubuteishvili has been sentenced to 5 years in prison and is currently in solitary confinement in the First Penitentiary.

“Two days ago, Pridon Bubuteishvili called me from prison, a guy who has been in prison since May 8, 2024… (2 years)

He initially told me that I hope you won’t criticize me, to which I replied that I wouldn’t criticize any of his steps. Pridon Bubuteishvili signed a pardon!

No person should spend even a single day in prison when his stay in prison is not legally correct.

In response to numerous statements by members of the Georgian Dream party that “ask for pardon and we will pardon them,” Pridon took this step first, now it’s time for the Georgian Dream and Mikheil Kavelashvili to take a step.

Release Pridon Bubuteishvili and don’t let this guy spend another 3 years in prison.

Patriarchate of Georgia: The spiritual well-being of the Georgian people and their peace are also to some extent your responsibility, therefore, as a start to ending the schism, ask and call on the Georgian Dream to respond to Pridon Bubuteishvili’s step and sign the act of pardon. If necessary, I can personally talk to a representative of the Patriarchate for a detailed study of this case,” the activist writes.
