The arrest of the riot police officers is clearly connected to the visit of the US Secretary of State's representative - they are probably trying to sell the Americans that the perpetrators have been arrested, Zura Japaridze, one of the leaders of the Opposition Alliance, told journalists.

“About 20 riot police officers beat Nika Mosiashvili and me alone in front of 19 cameras. 6 men beat my brother with iron clubs. 6 men beat Boris Chele Kurua with iron clubs. One man was arrested for beating Levan Khabeishvili - did one man beat Khabeishvili?! Could not they find the riot police officers who beat Dato Katsarava? I can stand for an hour and list the cases of violence - separately the so-called people in black and separately the so-called titushki,” said Zurab Japaridze.

As for the opposition’s meeting with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Sonata Coulter, as Japaridze told journalists after the meeting, the main topic of conversation was the situation in the country.

“We talked about everything. Usually, when people come to such meetings, they are prepared. If you wonder whether we told them something new that they had not heard before - no! Of course, they were prepared.

It was a very sincere conversation about what the priorities of the new US administration are both globally, in our region and in Georgia. There was an exchange of views on how we imagine the development of this country and what this country’s relations with the US should be. It is clear that it should not be like this!

The conversation between them was that no matter what promises the Dream makes regarding the settlement, all this is a lie and nonsense, because in parallel with this, anti-Western and anti-American propaganda is coming from the Georgian Dream.

There was also a conversation about the fact that there will be really good, sincere and friendly relations between the US and Georgia only when the regime changes, because the absolute majority of the citizens of this country are pro-Western and pro-American. Georgia is one of the most prominent pro-American countries and will always be so. All of this was discussed," said Zurab Japaridze.
