Mamuka Mdinaradze - I would like to ask the special services of partner countries: what we do not do in your countries, you should not do in our country - otherwise, I am not threatening, I can boldly say that we will make certain hints again

I have the opportunity to warn the representatives of the special services of our friendly and partner countries and ask them: - what our country does not do in their countries, they should not do in our country and be careful with these relations - what we do not do elsewhere, they should not do with us, - Mamuka Mdinaradze, State Minister for Coordination of Law Enforcement Structures, said in response to a question about the detention of individuals accused of being spies.

According to Mdinaradze, real counterintelligence work had not been carried out in Georgia for decades. He also noted that in 2005-2006 there were several detentions and "only in one direction, which was good for PR at the time".

“First, we and our special services have the power, as never before, to identify the intelligence services of other countries, their so-called residents in our country. We are very careful about this relationship. Therefore, we ask you to approach this issue with extreme caution. You yourself know what activities are being carried out in the direction of our country.

Also, to those several European countries that are carrying out intelligence work in our country in a lively and intensive mode: - Georgian special services have more information than they imagine. Today, counterintelligence work is being carried out in a redoubled mode, with intensity. Also, we and our law enforcement agencies have a lot of information. We ask that these people be withdrawn, removed from the activities that they are carrying out.

Otherwise, I am not really threatening, I can boldly say that we will again have certain hints in this regard. I think what we have done should be enough!

Fortunately, our country has the power to say this today more than ever, thanks to the correct and strong work of the relevant agencies and law enforcement officers.

No real counterintelligence work had been carried out in our country for decades. In 2005-2006, there were several arrests, and that too in only one direction, which was good for PR at the time.

This may still be good for PR today, but we should not think about PR. We should think about the real interests of our country, and then, propaganda is understandable!

After that, no one was actually arrested in this country accused of espionage. You remember one or two cases that were only demonstrative in nature in 2005-2006. After that, no spy was arrested in our country,” said Mamuka Mdinaradze.
