State Security Service releases video footage in the so-called espionage case, which, according to the agency, was filmed during a "conspiratorial meeting"

The State Security Service is publishing a video recording in the so-called espionage case.

"We are publishing a part of a secret video recording, which shows the fact of a citizen arrested on charges of espionage receiving instructions, transferring money and making the appropriate signature during a conspiratorial meeting," the State Security Service said in a statement.

For information, Giorgi Udzilauri was arrested on May 5. According to the prosecutor's office, an investigation conducted by the Counterintelligence Department of the State Security Service revealed that a high-ranking civil servant employed in a state agency, in order to receive material benefits, systematically collected and transmitted various types and categories of information to the detriment of Georgia's interests, on the instructions of a foreign intelligence service. He was charged under Article 314, Part 1 (espionage) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for up to 12 years of imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment. The City Court sent Giorgi Udzilauri to pre-trial detention as a preventive measure. The case is marked "top secret".
