“Georgia firmly stands on the guard of protecting national sovereignty, popular democracy, and the rule of law. The Government of Georgia does not intend to engage in artificial or society-dividing ideological confrontations,” said Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili after a meeting with the Speaker of the Slovak Parliament, Richard Raši.
Papuashvili focused on strengthening parliamentary ties and deepening cooperation between friendship groups.
“I am pleased to visit the Slovak Republic together with the Georgian parliamentary delegation. We had a fruitful meeting with my colleague Richard Raši. I remember our previous meeting last year in Geneva during the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, which gave additional strong momentum to parliamentary dialogue between our countries.
This visit once again confirms our commitment to further developing parliamentary relations in a complex global environment, where partnership and mutual understanding are more important than ever.
I expressed our gratitude to Slovakia for its unwavering support for Georgia. This support is highly valuable.
During the meeting, we noted the increasing intensity of high-level exchanges, which clearly demonstrates our shared commitment to deepening cooperation in various fields.
Georgia firmly stands on the guard of national sovereignty, popular democracy, and the rule of law. True European values, including preservation of national identity, traditional family values, and our Christian heritage, are guiding principles on our path toward EU integration. The Government of Georgia does not intend to engage in artificial or society-dividing ideological confrontations that do not serve the interests of our societies.
We agreed to further strengthen cooperation, especially at the parliamentary level, where dialogue and exchange of experience play a crucial role in achieving our common goals. We fully support active parliamentary ties between parliamentary administrations, friendship groups, and sectoral committees,” Papuashvili stated.
The meeting also addressed Georgia-EU relations and Slovakia’s experience in the European integration process.
“During the meeting, we also discussed the challenges in Georgia-EU relations and emphasized our commitment to constructive dialogue. We express gratitude for Slovakia’s readiness to share its experience in the European integration process.
Finally, our cooperation is aimed at reducing regional tensions, preventing unnecessary conflicts, and ensuring peace and stability, which will contribute to the further development of our societies, improvement of people’s lives, and productive economic cooperation.
We are grateful for the warm hospitality at the National Council. We are ready to deepen our partnership in the coming years,” Papuashvili concluded.
