The National Food Agency has fined “Libre” for violations. According to the information released by the Agency, based on reports circulating on social media about the presence of a cat in a food retail space, the Agency carried out an unplanned inspection at “Libre.” As a result, repeated critical non-compliance issues were identified at the facility, as well as the sale of expired food products. Consequently, a specific production process was suspended and the expired goods were sealed.
“The National Food Agency, based on information spread on social media (presence of an animal, a cat, in a food retail space), carried out state control (unplanned inspection) at JSC ‘Nikora Trade’ (‘Libre’, ID 206255808, address: 19 Rustavi Highway, Tbilisi). During the inspection, repeated critical non-compliance issues were identified at the facility, as well as the sale of expired food products. As a result, the business operator was fined 5,000 GEL and a specific production process was suspended. The expired products were sealed and will be destroyed under the supervision of the National Food Agency.
The Agency urges consumers to pay attention to product labels, storage and sales conditions when purchasing food, and to report any violations to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture hotline – 1501.
