As part of the ongoing procession marking Family Purity Day, children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and their parents greeted the march at Freedom Square.
The parents held a large banner reading: “The family is our foundation, children are our future. Let’s save their lives together!”
“Please help us save our children,” said a parent of a child with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Kakhaber Tsikhelashvili, addressing the clergy leading the procession. The clergy blessed them and continued the march.
At 18:00, the parents and their supporters will begin their traditional Sunday procession from Rustaveli Metro Station toward the Government Administration building.
For the 27th consecutive day, the parents have been holding continuous protests outside the Government Administration, demanding access to medication and spending nights there. They are calling on the state to bring into the country a medicine which, according to them, would ease the children’s condition and slow the progression of muscular dystrophy.
