Shalva Papuashvili - Denmark has a very serious history of human rights violations - we need to get rid of complexes that we are second-class citizens and other countries should teach us Europeanism

Denmark has a very serious history of human rights violations - for decades, including the 1990s, the Danish government forcibly and fraudulently sterilized half of the female population of Greenland - this was when Denmark was already a member of the European Union! In addition, Denmark conducted social experiments on Greenlandic children - it is sad when representatives of such a country then talk to others about any standards, - said the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili.

As Papuashvili noted, the "police crackdown on peaceful rallies" in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, is no exception. According to him, it is important that "this crackdown be investigated and the perpetrators be punished".

“I wish the officials in Brussels would take the human rights situation in the EU seriously. We, and not only we - they have also received harsh criticism from the US - see that the human rights situation in the EU is getting worse day by day. This applies to freedom of expression.

Copenhagen is no exception. We have seen the same picture of the dispersal of peaceful demonstrations in Berlin, Paris and other capitals. In Copenhagen, there was particular brutality, when peaceful demonstrators were dispersed with batons and dogs when they posed no threat.

It seems that the Danish police are not going to investigate this dispersal. It is important that it be investigated and the perpetrators be punished.

I will recall one point that I have already spoken about - Denmark has a very serious history of human rights violations. For decades, including the 90s, the Danish authorities forcibly and fraudulently sterilized half of the female population of Greenland - this was when Denmark was already a member of the European Union! In addition, Denmark conducted social experiments on Greenlandic children, who were kidnapped from their families, forbidden to speak their native language, and raised as true Danish citizens. This system was assessed by some Greenlandic politicians as genocide, which has not been investigated to this day. No one in Denmark has been punished for crimes against humanity that are equated with genocide.

It is sad when representatives of such a country then talk to others about any standards.

We must free ourselves from the complexes that they have been trying to impose on us for years - as if we are a second-rate and not fully developed nation, as if Denmark, Germany and other countries should teach us how to live properly, how to be European and how to build a country properly. We will teach everyone what Europeanism means and what human rights mean!

We must get rid of the complex imposed from the outside that we are students and are treated as class students by representatives of some countries, which have committed crimes equal to genocide against their own population and have not investigated these issues to this day. No one has been punished in Denmark for systemic crimes that were committed in Denmark, a member of the European Union,” said Shalva Papuashvili.
